Northern Briars Cooper # 29

A smooth finished classic Cooper a shape that is not seen to often these days. Like all Cooper's it is a sitter. Coopers are shape that was popular among barrel makers. Why? Until metal and plastic were used for containers they were all made of wood, including beer barrels. Barrels and wood boxes were generally produced in outside work yards. The Cooper was a shape meant to able to smoke outside and stay cool with its thick walls. Supposedly that accounts for its popularity among barrel makers (Coopers).
