Classic Series III

Classic - In 2018 I decided that in 2020 pipes2smoke.com would celebrate its 20 years in the pipe world, by bring out a continuing series of high grade traditional English pipes. The name I chose was Commonweal. When Les' Wood retired (2017), I had obtained many of his handpicked bowls that he had turned & aged for 20 years. Then I had a problem, great bowls with a provenance, good idea, but how would I get them made into pipes.

The idea was born from an earlier collaboration I had arranged between Les and Michael, the Ferndown-Premier pipes, 2013-2015. With Commonweal it was a bit more complicated with three pipe makers involved; Les Wood, Michael Parks and Charles Lemon doing the mouthpieces. Michael Parks agreed to take charge of production and guided all  aspects to meet the high standards, we wanted and achieved. Commonweal production ended in 2021, when Michael decided to devote all his time to his fabulous Parks pipes. Then two years later (2023) I did the unusual, unique Commonweal II, series, with Tatsuo Tajima in Tokyo.

Commonweal to The Classics  -  

In this new year of 2026, pipes2smoke introduces the first of The Classics Series III. These are made from Les Woods’ bowls, hand-picked, turned, and now aged for 25 years. 

The sandblasting, stemming, staining and finishing is all done by Kolyo Demirev in Bulgaria. Each stem he hands cuts from the best German, America-Hamburg Vulcanite. Every Classic Series III,  pipe is an excellent value with its’ high quality & unique provenance.
