Jose Rubio Acorn # JR 69
Jose Rubio has been making pipes for over 35 years. His goal is always to create a superb looking pipes that are also superb smokers. He takes great pride in hand selecting only the best grained blocks. All his pipes have a slightly V shaped interior as he feels this is the best shape for the largest variety of tobacco types. He makes no more than 50 pipes a year.
A wonderful Acorn with Jose's trademark deep grained sandblast. Here we see how a master reads the blocks grain and then deep blasts to bring out what he sees. Unusually the deep ring grain on the bowl is vertical, and the staining is almost two toneĀ - deep burgundy with lighter red lines.
Like most of Jose's pipes it is a smaller one with thickĀ walls.
As a dear pipe friend of mine said " if I can't tell who made it from across the room, it is just another piper". This one certainly fills that criteria.Ā
