Tatsuo Tajima # 8
Tatu # 8 - Every Tatu pipe shows the Japanese pipe aesthetic. This pipe the blast is done as Japanese Raku pottery style. In that technique the vase/pot/bowl is built up very carefully with coils of clay. Not tuned on a wheel. In this pipe Tatu has blasted it to create the same effect. Perhaps this should on a wheel be called blast carving as Tatu using a fine nozzle blasts & carves the rows following the grain, somewhat like Mike Butera does occasionally. What we have in this pipe is one that is large but not huge it has thick walls so it will deliver a cool smoke. An absolutely superb piece. Perfect Sitter.
