Commonweal II Full Bent # 2352

This is Tatsuo's contemporary take on the classic full bent pipe. He used a variety of techniques to give it a and unusual look. He first sandblasted it, the he added a seamlessly bone shank extension, that is the first carved one I have ever seen. Then he stained it an overall brown/black with some purple highlights on the left side, on the right some reddish highlights, the he suffused the overall surface with gold dust. It reflects the light in an extremely subtle way. 

The bowl looks like the rocks found in the 2.5 - 4.2 billion year old Precambrian shield that stretches from Northern Hudson's Bay to the northeastern US and includes Greenland. The massive area where the rocks often have veins with iron ore, nickel, gold, silver and copper.  A truly unique pipe.
