David Huber

In 2006 he bought a pipe was immediately captivated. He then started to acquire more to study them and understand their aesthetics, particularly those of the Danish & Japanese schools. In 2010 he ordered a few briar blocks. Two years later he finished his 1st pipe. Then ventured forth to start making more. 

Word of his work spread rapidly over the net. He received first place in the 2013 annual juried Kansas City pipe-carving contest. In 2014 he decided to be a full time pipe maker. Previously he had been a successful live theater designer. In 2015 he won Best-In-Show at the Kansas City show. As good a validation as any pipe maker could ask for.

Each of his pipes are unique with an obvious mastership of the craft. His shapes are rooted from his studying & learning from the work of the masters. Every piece is made from the absolute best materials by his hands alone.

David produces his DSH Pipes, as an artist-in-residence at Liberty Arts Sculpture Studio & Foundry in Durham, North Carolina.
