Tatsuo Tajima Yūri-kinsai bent # 7
Yūri-kinsai is an ancient 900 year old Japanese technique used to apply gold leaf on plates, pottery, sword scabbards, samurai armour etc. Tatsuo began studying it a few years ago to learn if it could be used on pipes and how to apply it. Over time he developed a method.
This full bent Sea Cucumber has a smooth rim and end of shank. The stem is Brindle in a dark grey/black that contrasts very well with the gold leaf on the bowl.
This is truly an unusual pipe that outside of Japan does not exist. A classic shape made with a 900 year old technique.
Note: The streaks are real gold leaf. Sitter.
