Tatsuo Tajima
Tatsuo Tajima, ("Tatu") was born in 1955 in Tokyo. He originally worked as a film, graphic designer and contributed to large-scale image displays mainly for feature films, events as Tsukuba Expo '85, Nara Silk Road Expo '87, and Design Expo Nagoya '89, Edo-Tokyo Museum. With 90's shift to digital media, he focused on multimedia projects & other visuals as graphic designer. He has received numerous awards from such competitions as Opel Design Contests, Epson Imaging Contests, and Victor Video Festivals.
He preferred physical to virtual art forms. In 2005, Tatu apprenticed himself to Shizuo Arita & Shigeyoshi Yanagihara to learn the art of the pipe. Four years later he made his debut as a full time pipe maker at Amanoya in Setagaya, Tokyo. In 2011 he attended the Chicago Pipe Show and was quickly much recognized for his superb pipes.
Every Tatu pipe shows his Japanese aesthetic with its mix of curved and straight lines, it's asymmetry or semi of such always flowing into a complete whole. With the famous Japanese attention to detail.
