Tatsuo Tajima Mt. Uzen Volcano # 52
I looked that this pipe for quite a while as to what was Tatsuo's inspiration. Knowing how much he is involved in very idea of nature and that 'shinto' beliefs are basically animist it occurred to me. Japan is a country of 6.800 islands all mountainous.
This is a volcano and with it's lavalike Plateau rim it reminds me of Mt. Uzen from the air. This is large pipe with much briar all around. The bowl itself has a sharp ascending slope at the front and a gentle descending one at back. Then it repeats itself in a the bowl's back on the shank. With this much wood it will always be cool.
The pipe is healthy sized piece with much wood & sits on its left side happily and will not spill ash.
