Tatsuo Tajima Dublinesque # 17

This very Japanese pipe antecedents were likely a Dublin. The Volcano - of which there are many in Japan -  with its flared bottom suggests a cooled Lava flow base. The carved real gold filled  line from shank end to midway and then starts again and flows around and up the bowl onto around the plateau rim. This represents a 'Shinto" shide -(a type talisman) - that keeps away demons & other evils. Hence it should smoke very, very well.  A very interesting and comfortable pipe in the hand. The pipe is a sitter.
