Tatsuo Tajima Dublin Yūri-kinsai # 35
This is a very symmetrical pipe for Tatsuo. Both the bowl & shank share a somewhat triangular shaping while the key focus of this pipe are four different surface textures. The front of the bowl is smooth with a gold filled natural indentation, (Yūri-kinsai), the sides totally smooth with gold flecks as raindrops on a tree trunk, the back of the bowl & shank is sandblasted & stained black with gold high tones, the shank extension is a Japanese exotic wood, the stem is grey/black/moss green. The rim has a front lip one of the many elements fusing with shape, texture, different finishes to create harmonious whole.
With all its shaping it is well balanced in the hand and a perfect sitter.
