Yūri-kinsai is an ancient 900 year old Japanese technique used to apply gold leaf on plates, pottery, sword scabbards, samurai armour etc. Tatsuo began studying it a few years ago to learn if it could be used on pipes and how to apply it. Over time he developed a method.

This full bent Dublin style  bowl has has a plateau rim & shank end. On the left bottom is a running keel giving the pipe that Japanese asymmetry. The stem is Brindle black with lighter grey flashes that contrasts very well with the gold leaf on the bowl.

This is truly an unusual pipe that outside of Japan does not exist. A classic shape made with a 900 year old technique.

Note: The streaks are real gold leaf. Sitter.
